Hi Heather -

Thank you ever so much for the fine search you did for my Robert Scott. (I'm
sorry that I didn't give you more information about him when I wrote my
first email to you.) Source for Robert's birth is a book by Charles S.
Romanes, Melrose Parish Register, pub Edinburgh (1913). Robert b 13 Nov
1818 "Born to Andrew Scott, miller in Newtown & Joan Hope, his lawful wife,
a.s.n."

First, I want to tell you that as far as I know, Robert's father Andrew did
not go to Australia though I have yet to find a death cert for him in
Scotland. His mother's death cert contains a good deal of information; names
all her children including son Robert, age 37 (source: Statuatory Index
1855-77 - Death Cert of Joan Hope Scott, widow of Andrew.) She is bur at
Linton in Roxburgh; her spouse Andrew is not at that cemetery.

Heather, the only way I know that Robert went to Australia is from a very
brief notes written by a great-aunt of mine who wrote Robert went to
Australia; 2 sons, 2 daus.

From your message to me, I deduce that Robert must have mar in Scotland
before going to Australia.Robert was the last of nine children all b in
Melrose & vicinity, Roxburgh.

Thank you again for the information you sent me & for anything else you
find.
I really appreciate your interest & help.

Joan
