I am looking for information on Alexander Crombie

Born: 22 Dec 1871 (the birth was possibly registered in 1872), in
Midlothian, Scotland

Died: 28 January 1925 aged 53 in Umtali from TB

Father: A Crombie of Thornton Castle, Kir-Kardinshire, a
solicitor

Mother: Elizabeth Marshall

Siblings: Eleanor Esther was born in 1874 in Marykirk,
Kincardinshire

Married: Mabel Mary Cookson 1899 - Divorced 1906

Children: Mary Elizabeth (born 1900)

Eric Gerald

Occupation: Miner/Mine Owner

Residence Penhalonga, Southern Rhodesia



All I know about him is:

All I know about him is:



He was born in 1872 in Scotland in Midlothian and his sister Eleanor Esther
was born in 1874 in Marykirk, Kincardinshire, to parents *Alexander Crombie
and Elizabeth Marshall*. His father was* Alexander Crombie of **Thornton** *
*Castle**, **Kir-Kardinshire**, **Scotland**. This *Alexander Crombie, an
advocate and land agent, in 1804, and considerably refurbished Thornton
Castle



He married Mabel Mary Cookson in Elmstead Essex in 1899 "8 February 1899
Alexander Crombie, 27, bachelor, civil engineer of Ramsey, Isle of Man married
Mabel Mary Cookson 24 of Elmstead, by Licence by her father Osmond Cookson.
The witnesses were Herbert Henry Osmond Cookson, Beatrice Elizabeth Cookson
and Ada Annie Harding."

He emigrated to South Africa in 1903/4

He divorced Mabel Mary in 1906 and was given custody of their daughter Mary
Elizabeth

Was an engineer (so i presume he ahd been to University) – cited in various
documents as a miner and quantity surveyer. He was a mine owner in Penhalonga,
Southern Rhodesia

He died in 1925 and his daughter is listed as his only survivor. She herself
married Stuart Clarkson in Rhodesia around 1938

Alexander's sister????? Osmond Cookson's sister????

He was an engineer so I presume he had been to University but I do not know
which University

He emigrated to South Africa in 1903/4 where he worked on mines in
Modderfontein, Johannesburg

He divorced Mabel Mary in 1906 and was given custody of their daughter Mary
Elizabeth. No mention here made of his son Eric Gerald. Some time after
this he emigrated to Rhodesia. His death certificate cites him as a mine
owner in Penhalonga, Southern Rhodesia .

He died in 1925 and his daughter is listed as his only survivor.

She herself married Stuart Clarkson in Rhodesia c. 1938
