The Canadian 1901 census is currently being indexed by volunteers, but you can access what has been done (abt 87%). It is available at http://automatedgenealogy.com/census/index.html .
There is also an Angus McDonald living in Glengarry with his mother, about the right age. You have to check both spellings of McDonald as Mc and Mac both are used by the same famillies. My Great grandfather is buried in Orillia Ont., on his headstone is McDonald, my great uncle is buried beside him and spells his last name MacDonald and so did my grandmother. They claimed Mc was Irish and not Scottish. Of Course they were wrong both Mc and Mac were used in Scotland and mean the same thing. And domestic was a servant, and often British subjects coming to Canada took such jobs with family or nieghbours to get by. Most British subjects came directly to Canada to settle (Halifax, N.S. or Vancouver, B.C.), but some went through US ports, depending on what passage was available. Not much help, Good Luck.

Thanks so much for doing a search!
It is possible this is her...a domestic.......would this have been a
servant, or maid or something for another family?
She was born in 1878, if she did come over in 82, she would have been
very young on the boat...4 or 5 maybe.

How would someone from England have come in to Canada...do you think,
that maybe she came in from Ellis Island and worked her way up to
Canada? or was there ports in Canada where they flooded to??

> Checking the 1901 census in Canada finds Emma Eddles working as a domestic in Carman, MB. It says she came to Canada In 1892 (I think, it could be 1882). The only other Eddles, a William, lives in Selkirk, Manitoba and is only 33. So could be a brother whom she came to live with and in 1901 is on her own. But she definately was single in 1901. Haven't found Angus yet.

Why do people say, "You can't have your cake and eat it too"?
Why would someone get cake if they can't eat it?
