I'm researching my Scott line and have hit a brick wall. Can anyone
help?

My earliest Scott is my ggggrandfather, Joseph Scott, who was born abt
1796 (SC or NC?). He moved to Maury Co., TN at some point, and he and
his wife, Easter (Esther), had at least two children born there:
Pleasant M. Scott and Hannah I. Scott. They moved to McCracken Co., KY
before 1840, and hat at least 2 other children by then: Martha and
Louisa.

I believe Joseph is probably somehow related to his neighbors in the
1850 McCracken Co census: Mary Scott, age 50, with sons Preston,
William, and Irwin living with her; and Jackson Scott, age 25, living
with wife Sarah and two sons: William and John. But I have no proof of
this, and can't seem to corroborate who they are.

I have been unsuccessful in tracking Joseph down in Maury Co. or in
narrowing down his birthplace. Is anyone researching any of these
Scotts?
