My greatfather was William Scott, b.January, 1845 Scotland (specific
location unknown) and married Mary HANNAY,
also of Scotland (date and exact location unknown). Both family names of
SCOTT and HANNAY are found mainly from
the border area of Scotland. They married (maybe in Scotland) and went to
the United States. I find that William SCOTT
was naturalized in the USA in 1872 (probably in the Chicago area). William
SCOTT and his wife Mary returned to
England where my grandfather Thomas James SCOTT was born December 11, 1880
in London (have a copy of his
birth certificate). The family, William and Mary Hannay SCOTT along with
Thomas James SCOTT, their son returned to
the USA in 1882. Thomas James SCOTT was naturalized in the USA in 1902
(after his 21st birthday) in Chicago, Illinois.
1900 census records from Chicago show that William SCOTT was alive at 259 W
Harison St, Chicago but his wife Mary
had died. Records showed that William SCOTT was widowed but had been
married for 34 years.

Their son and my Grandfather Thomas James SCOTT was born in England but the
birth certificate shows only that both
of his parents were born in Scotland. Thomas spent most of his life in
Chicago, ILl, he married my grandmother Elizabeth
Russell ORR in Chicago (date unknown) and died January 17, 1949 also in
Chicago.

My grandmother, Elizabeth Russell ORR was the daughter of Archibald Russell
ORR, b.abt 1851 in Scotland and
Marion SCOTT, b. in Inverness, Scotland. Elizabeth was born in Chicago on
January 26, 1888 and died in Evanston,
Illinois on April 4, 1962.
