Here is an excerpt from the description of her mother's family, written by
my grandmother. I hope this will provide a good introduction for joining
this list. What follows are her words.

Written by Isabel Maud (Fox) Henderson of Mannville, Alberta, Canada on
February 7, 1957.
My mother, Eleanor Scott, was born Nov. 10, 1840 at Newcastle-upon-Tyne,
England. Her parents were Margaret Scott (both maiden and married name) and
Robert Scott. Campbell and Currie were their mother's maiden names
respectively.
When mother was 4 years old, her parents moved to St. Helen's, Lancashire,
near Liverpool, where her father and later her brothers were employed as
glass blowers in the Pilkington glass works.
The two eldest, Frank Scott and Margaret Scott, emigrated to U.S.A. - to
Chicago. Later Frank Scott went to Leavenworth, Kansas, where he eventually
became a dry goods merchant. He married and had at least two children.
Margaret Scott lived in Chicago, Illinois for many years. She married Mark
Bovee and they had 3 children, Clarence Bovee, Manley Bovee and Charles
Bovee.
Next Aunt Lizzie (Elizabeth) Scott journeyed to Chicago, later marrying John
Graham of New York state (Burlington, I think). They has 4 children: Lily
Graham and three boys. At one time they homesteaded in Kansas, and acquired
land there.
One of Mother's brothers, George Scott, didn't emigrate, but lived his life
out in St. Helens, Lancashire, England.
The lure of free land brought Robert Scott, Willie Scott, Eleanor Scott (my
mother) and Sara Scott to Canada in 1858 when Mother was 18. They settled on
land in Tudor Township near the Jordan River north of Eldorado, north of
Madoc in Hastings Co., Ontario.

This represents the starting point for my own research into my Scott
ancestors. After several years, I have made only slow progress in filling in
the details. I would like to contact other descendents of this family, to
share what I have learned about their descendents, and to discuss research
into their ancestors.
