John:b abt 1656, Exeter 1689 was on Jury at Portsmouth 1693-6 where his name
appears both as Scribner and Scrivener, his name appeaars upon the muster
Roll of Capt. Gilman in 1710. In Hampton Church records of 1698 he is marked
as dismissed to Church at Exeter , as to his wife, Henry Wadleigh of Exeter
gave deed reciting for the parental love and affection which I have unto my
well beloved son and daughter John Scribner Jr. of said Exeter, blacksmith
and Sarah his now wife my well beloved daughter. In 1701 he calls himself of
Dover and conveys to Peter Coffin the plantation whereon his father "jno
Scribner" lived in Dover. But in 1717, he was both a creditor of Estate of
Edward Sewall of Exeter and named in the will of Francis Stelle as owning
land there. Of his children only a few are known:

Thomas was b. in Hampton 1664 d. 1718 in Kingston, after his death of his
father he was in Exeter later removed to Kingston, becoming one of its first
and foremost settlers, he was a landowner, churchman and civil official. He
md. first 21Dec 1702 Sarah CLIFFORD b. 30 Oct 1673 d. 5 Jan 1707-8 dau of
John and Sarah (Godfrey) Clifford, md 2.4th Feb 1708-9 Hannah Welch b. 1680
dau of Phillip of Norwich, MASS, the latter came from Ireland in 1654 in the
ship Goodfellow. He lived in Topsfield but his children went to Kingston,
NH, served as a soldier in Kings Phillips War md. 20th Feb 1666 Hannah Hagget
dau of Henry Hagget of Salem and Wenham.
