Subject: [SC] Camp St. Christopher - in Sumter, SC?
Date: Thu, 14 Jun 2001 07:34:06 EDT
Good morning all,
I spend a few hours every Sunday with my Dad and have enjoyed his
answers to my millions of questions.
He told me something interesting recently and I thought I'd ask all of
you about it ~
My father was born in 1928, and when he was young, he went to Camp St.
Christopher each year. He said that during "the war" (WWII), as he puts it,
there was "lights out" on the beach and that they had camp during those years
in Sumter, SC. He can't tell me exactly where in Sumter.
Can anyone tell me more about this? Where in Sumter was camp held? Just
curious. I love anything that relates to South Carolina history and this does.
