Would someone try to explain this process please, and did the mother of
the child always have to tell who the father was by law ? I'll place an
example from a list of names I obtained today.
STATE VS. WILLIAM WEST; A bond was signed on Sept. 25, 1821 before E.
Bomar, C.C.G.S. by Casey West and Delilah West Casey. The bond was
signed for Rebecca Casey , a single woman who had given birth to a male
baby on August 12, 1821 " begotten by William West". [no Commissioner
For The Poor listed, but most do have names].
Did William West have to be responsible for the baby ? Appreciate
clarification, Nancie
