Taking the McPhails first, I noted that there are 39 McFaill, McPhail and
McPhaill people listed. However, I've confined this response to people in
Campbeltown, and where the first name turned up amongst the descendants you
so helpfully listed.

Please may I take you up on this kind offer, as c 1800 is my family brick
wall in this area.

My family were from Campbeltown and Southend parishes, with the Campbell
family of Machremoremill, possibly more likely to be found as tenants, than
the McPhails who appeared to be itinerant farmers, but here is what I know,
as follows:

Colin McPhail - Life Range: c1802 - Bef 1859
Abt 1802 Birth: Campbeltown, Argyll. [I've never found his parent's names]

Spouse: Marion Campbell (born in 1806 Campbeltown, Argyll - died after
1871).

11 Feb 1826 Marriage in Southend, Campbeltown, Argyll. Colin McPhail,
Servant Tonrioch Grid Ref NR 692 198 of Campbeltown Parish and Marion
Campbell Machremoremill of this Parish.

1 Apr 1826 Child born (#1): Flora McPhail (born on 1 Apr 1826
Machremoremill, Southend, Argyll).

16 Mar 1828 Child born (#2): Donald McPhail (born on 16 Mar 1828 Campbeltown
Parish, Argyll - died on 26 Jun 1891 in 21 Washington Street, Glasgow,
Lanarkshire).

14 Sep 1829 Child born (#3): Mary McPhail (born on 14 Sep 1829 Campbeltown
Parish, Argyll).

29 May 1832 Child born (#4): Duncan McPhail (born on 29 May 1832
Ballybroanan, Southend, Argyll).

2 Dec 1834 Child born (#5): Margaret McPhail (born on 2 Dec 1834 Glasgow,
Lanarkshire).

11 Jul 1837 Child born (#6): John McPhail (born on 11 Jul 1837 Glasgow,
Lanarkshire).

8 May 1842 Child born (#7): Alexander McPhail (born on 8 May 1842 Anderston,
Barony, Glasgow, Lanarkshire).

General Notes: On daughter Flora's Birth cert. in 1826, noted as living at
Machremoremill Grid Ref NR 698 094. This was where Marion came from, and as
Flora was born 2 months after they were married, it is likely that Marion
remained with her family at Machremoremill during last 2 months of her
pregnancy.
