The Kilmichael mentioned in my note below refers to a place of that name
near Campbeltown. I believe that the Kilmichael where your family originated
is the one at Kilmichael Glassary, not far from Lochgilphead. This parish is
in Mid-Argyll, and although the Duke had lands and tenants there, they are
not covered in the book I have.

Sorry I cannot be of more help on this occasion, and the best of luck with
your research,

Sarah Galbraith

Hi Sarah,

I would be interested if there any any McKellar's from Kilmichael listed.
I know that they are likely to be too many to list, but just knowing that
there are some there will tell me something. The furthest back I have gotten
on this line is Malcolm McKellar who married Mary McLachlan in Glassary in
1831. Malcolm was a Blacksmith as were a number of his relatives (and
possibly his father ?). Malcolm and Mary had 4 children: Mary, John, Angus
and Neil.

Thanks for the generous offer and I would appreciate anything you can tell
me.

Regards,

now
until the 8th of January, I have time to do look-ups for anyone
interested
in tracing relatives in the Kintyre peninsula of Argyll.

The parishes covered are Killean & Kilkenzie; Kilcolmkill & Kilblaan ie
Southend; and Kilkivan, Kilkerran, Kilmichichael & Kilchousland ie
Campbeltown; Saddell & Skipness, including Carradale. (It is important
to
note, however, that the Duke was by no means the only landowner in the
area
at that time, so tenants of other landlords are, of course, not
included.)

Perhaps the list administrator can advise me if responses to any query
should go to the whole list, or only to the person asking the question.

Regards

Sarah Galbraith
