There was much speculation when I was at school about the connection, but
nothing conclusive! I think that the Wallaces in Kintyre were part of the
Lowland Plantation in the area, and that they came from Ayrshire. Perhaps
another list member can contribute more information.

Just been reading your helpful emails to various people when the Wallace
name cropped. Is these Wallaces any relation to the famous William Wallace?
If so, I have the family tree showing the connection to Sir James Young
Simpson, nin case you do not have it.
