Sheila

I'm afraid that there were no Archibald McNevin/McNiven in the Duke's
census.

Re Alexander Campbell - as you suspected, there are many.

Looking at the family pattern you described, and allowing for one of the
parents' names to be different from your suggestions, I found the following:

Little Glenramskill, Campbeltown
Finlay Campbell, 30
Mary Ferguson, 28
Alexander Campbell, 4

5 Main Street, with no apparent parents
Alexander Campbell, 21
Janet Campbell, 17
Mary Campbell, 12
Isobell Campbell, 8

Braid Kilmory, Killean & Kilkenzie parish
Mary Smylie, 60
Jean Campbell, 32
Archibald Campbell, 30
Alexander Campbell, 17

Not sure if these are helpful, but good luck anyway

Best regards

Sarah

Sarah, I feel guilty adding to your massive undertaking when there's only an
outside chance my people belonged to the Duke. I'm looking for Archibald
McNevin who would have been about 42; his wife, Elizabeth McCallum, and a
son, also Archibald, about 20.
I'm also searching for Alexander Campbell (now there's an unusual name
in that territory!) who might have been about five yeas old. His father was
probably named Alexander, too, and his mother either Mary or Cathrine.
Many thanks for your valiant efforts.
Sheila in Missouri
