Hi Richard,

In the Montcoffer rentals, is there anything on STRACHANs who farmed Mains
of Montcoffer in 1881 and again 1913, so possibly continuously; first John
STRACHAN and then his brother George STRACHAN.

They are a line of mine, their paternal gdmother being Agnes CLARK from
Mains of Buckie Rathven then Raemore Deskford.

The brother's father William STRACHAN was 'proprietor & farmer' when he died
in 1885 at Mill of Balmaud (in Banff, Banffshire in 1871 but in King Edward,
Aberdeenshire by 1881), but I haven't looked up Worrell's Valuation Roll
Index to see what he might have been proprietor-ing.
