If you conclude that these are your folk, please let me know how they
fit
together - I'm building a picture of the overall Whitsome community.

Dear Lesley,

You actually caught me on the hop, the only gaps (apart from some
distant
relatives) that I have are for the first three siblings born to James
and
Janet (nee Cockburn) Scott. As said I believe I have established
Margaret's
details (as I cannot find any tangible details in Scotland i.e. Death
Cert.
or Census Records), based primarily on your Headstone No. 66, which
mentions
her by name, along, I believe, with her younger brother and daughter
(Middle
Name same as Grandmother's). Plus the name Paulin, I have recently
researched, may be Jewish, which 'may' account for their having to get
married in the nearest large centre, and possibly staying there.
I have come to a bit of a barrier with the other daughters, especially
Isabel, as I found a connection with Agnes whom may have married a
Joseph
Sinton in Chirnside in 1834 (the ages and children's name match
perfectly
with other members of the family). Apart from people that definitely
moved
away from the area, such as overseas to Canada (which I read through
your
site, I think), didn't (or I definitely get that impression) most
people
tend to stay in Berwick or the greater Borders region? I have Isabel
married
to either a Alexander Thompson (Ayton, 1826) or a Kennedy MacKenzie
(Mordington, 1820), your help would be sincerely appreciated.

Regards,

Michael Crabbe

(P.S. I will forward more detail on to you on completion as I won’t
have the opportunity

to put the data on a Family Tree site. Currently have too many other
commitments. M.C.)
