Subject: My William Black was born between 1720 and 1735, but Where In Scotland?
Date: Sat, 15 Jul 2006 14:57:44 EDT
I am having a lot of difficulty finding PROOF concerning my ancestor's,
(William Black) birthplace in Scotland. Here are the leads I have so far for the
birth or baptism of my ancestor::
1. born 1727 Paisley (I cannot find records, and most accept this as his
birthdate and location of birth, without documentation)
2. possible son of William Black, supervisor of excise in Glasgow, who died
in 1748 in Glasgow (cannot find any record)
3. born 14 Oct 1722 Lynegar, Watten, Caithness parent John Black
4. christened 3 Dec. 1732 Hamilton,Lanark, parents: Charles Black / Mary Cur
5. christened 29 July 1723 New Monkland, Lanark parents Gavin Black /
Margret Jack
6. christened 8 May 1735 Crawfordjohn, Lanark parents James Black /Jean
Willison
7. christened 22 Dec.1720 Carnwath,Lanark parents John Black / Christian
Tennent
8. christened 1721 Crawford, Lanark parents John Black / Margret Bell
9. christened 10 September 1722 Crawford, Lanark parents Heugh Black /
Bessie Carmichell
10. Christened 2 June 1722 Shotts, Lanark
Can anyone PROVE that anyone of the above was my ancestor, William Black, who
1. married Elizabeth Stocks in Elland or Huddersfield, Yorkshire ca 1758
2. Emigrated with her and five children to Canada in 1775 .
3. Lived in both Nova Scotia and New Brunswick and married second Elizabeth
Abber.
Does anyone have any information PROVING that another William Black of
another location inb Scotland was my ancestor?
Any help or clues anyone can give me will be very much appreciated.
