Subject: Help!! Brickwall with Macadam

Hi Everyone,

I really need help with an ancestor of mine, William Macadam ( Could be McAdam) I can not locate a birth record for him, I have searched the IGI and Scotlands People with no success, I believe that he was born in 1855, I have located him on the 1871 Census aged 16 as an apprentice grocer, unfortunately I can not read where he is born. In the late 1870's William emigrates to Melbourne Australia, he later marries and states his parents to be George Macadam and Anne Dunlop. Should I go to Parish Records to try and locate his Birth? I am just not sure which way to go, does this mean that there is no record of his birth, because there was no record on the IGI and Scotlands People?

Any help would be greatly appreciated
