Hi Joyce,

The South Back Canongate is what is now known as Holyrood Road, running
from Holyrood Palace up to St Mary's Street and the Pleasance. If I
remember correctly, St Johns Hill was towards the Pleasance end.

Holyrood Road is famous at present since it is one large building site.
New Parliament Building, new Scotsman offices and the Earth Experience,
a geological theme tent for the millenium. The last two are being built
on the site of the old William Younger's brewery, a good place for a
cooper to work!

Stuart (born in Edinburgh, exiled to Bedfordshire)
