If an obituary existed - a most likely place is 'The Evening News'
(Edinburgh). It's all on microfiche at the Edinburgh room of the Public
Library in George IV Bridge. Searching a whole year is vastly time
consuming - I hope you have the exact date of death.
Microfiche files of the paper can almost certainly be found in other
libraries
I think was also a Leith paper at one time. Other less likely
possibilities - The Scotsman or the Evening Dispatch.
Maybe someone has indexed obituaries - you could try The Scottish Genealogy
Society.
