Hello everyone,

Can anyone help me with something that has captured my imagination?

As you turn into the Kirk yard from Candlemaker Row and follow the path to the right to the bottom there is a blackened walled grave along the back boudary with an imposing black statue in the centre at the back. You couldn't miss him! The poor chap unfortunately seems to have lost part of his feet and his housing is in a bit of disrepair. I photographed the inscriptions on the wall inside but cannot make out what it reads - just odd parts of the inscription. Very helpful people inside the church were not too sure but thought the names Crabieston and Pitcairlie were associated. I have checked my "Edinburgh Graveyard Guide" by Michael Turnball but nothing seems to "fit".

Anyone familiar with the graveyard know anything about this chap?

Thanks for any help.
