Hi!
My Grandma's family are from the highlands, Duffs from Banff - But the
ascendances are interspersed with families of the lower parts of Scotland:
ELLIOT, AINSLIE, HAMILTON, CUNNINGHAM NICOLSON AND JOHNSTON.
At the moment i'm stuck with my no 3769 a Janet JOHNSTON of
ELPHINSTOUN/ELPHINSTONE who married at Prestonpans in 1606 robert HAMILTON of
Prestoun.
She was daughter of John JOHNSTON, younger of elphinstone, a commissioner for
Edinburgh in 1581 +1607 (brother of James, Laird of Elphinstone) and Isobel
BARRON(daughter of James, Burgess of Edinburgh).
But i can't seem to find anyhting more on these Johnstons of elphinstone.
Ideally I would like to have the ascendance of this Janet.
Can anyone help?
