Hi Sarah
I also have a Janet Dewar ancestor. GGGG-GM
I know very little about her at the moment. She married John Seggie and raised a family in North Queensferry. Their first child (that I know of) was born on 15 May 1753. Their children were George (15 May 1753), Alexander (1 May 1755 GGG-GF), John (29 Aug 1757), Jean (11 Apr 1765), and Margaret (22 Jun 1768).
There was a lot of Edinburgh traffic went through the N & S Queensferry, so a connection is quite possible. I can't see my Janet being the same person as either of your Janets. If there is a link, it could be that my Janet was a sister to your John.
I will keep your message and let you know if I find anything further.
Take care,
Alex
