Hi Listers:

Have a death certificate for Grace FIFE BELL who was born 1 March 1849
probably in Lochee, Scotland, even though the death certificate spells it
"Lauhee" Scotland.???? Her parents were Alexander Fife, b. in Scotland,
and Janet Stewart, also born in Scotland. She died in Watertown, Jefferson
County, N. Y. 10 July 1940. It is believed she came to Kingston, Ontario,
Canada in the late 1860's or early 1870's. She married a John Bell from
Dundee, Scotland, around 1871 in Montreal. I also found her called Grace
FORBES in one of the statements made in her will, but her death certificate
definitely shows her name to have been FIFE. One could theorize that her
son was confusing the geographical FIFE with the family names -- but why
would he call his grandfather Alex Fife?????

Grace's husband, my great-grandfather, was of a "baking" family -- BELLS,
of which there were probably many!!! ugh!

I realize this is a very common name, but I thought I'd give it a
try. Does anyone have a couple on their charts with these names/dates?

I have no idea where to proceed with this search.

Thank you for your help.
