Subject: [EDB] Apprentice record question
Date: Sat, 22 Jun 2002 15:26:53 EDT

Hi List,
In the "Register of Edinburgh Apprentices." for 1666-1700, my ancestor was
apprenticed to James Braidfoot (possibly Broadfoot), in 1681 when he waa
about 7 years old.. But nothing is said as to what trade he was engaged in.
Later my ancestor was a mariner.
Is there any way to learn what James Braidfoot's occupation was?
Also his father was referred to as (B. and G.). Could this mean Burgess and
?? I know the father was a burgess - but the "G." stumps me.
Thanks for any help or suggestions,
Phyllis
