Hi List, I wonder if SKS can assist me. I am trying to trace my
g/g/grandfather John DOBSON, b. Edinburgh, in 1818, his occupation on his
marriage cert to a Faith CHAPMAN in Hull in 1845 was a clothier, and on the
1881 census, as a retired draper. In 1881 he was residing at 5 Brookland
Tce. Scarborough. They had a son Edward, also b. Edinburgh in 1846. So I
can only presume that he was living in Edinburgh between 1818, and the birth
of his son Edward in 1846. I am afraid that that is all the information I
have about him in Edinburgh. Has anyone any connection with this family.
Also is it possible that he may have been in business as a draper over these
years in Edinburgh, any assistance would be gratefully accepted. I have
really come to a brick wall, with this part of the family. Thanking you in
anticipation

Harry New Zealand.
