I reckon the nearest would be St Cuthberts, but it was probably pretty short
on space by then.
Edinburgh as you know has loads of cemeteries and there is no guarantee that
he would be buried at the nearest. One possibility is getting buried at
parish of birth but of course you dont know that. 1841 census will only tell
you whether or not he was born in the county.
If it was me I would concentrate on finding the burial places of any
children who stayed in Scotland, in the hope that they were buried in a
family lair.
I also notice that he was a grocer. I dont think you can be 100% sure he had
his own shop but this was a commercial area and I think it would be worth
checking post office directories to see if he is listed. You might even find
the widow takes over the business, which would certainly help pinpoint his
year of death.
