Hi All

My name is Beattie Mayo and I live at Bakewell - Northern Territory - Australia.

Scottish Records at the Family History Centre & the Genealogical Society in Darwin are very limited to say the least - and I have no idea where to go to find the record I am looking for.

Would anyone have access to the Death Index for Edinburgh.

I am looking for the death of one Margaret BOWERS (nee GRANT).

On looking at the Old Parochial Register I have found the marriage of Archibald BOWERS and Margaret GRANT on 03 December 1827 at Edinburgh but unfortunately Margaret's fathers name was not given.

There was a daughter, Margaret BOWERS, born in that marriage on 18 November 1828.

Archibald BOWERS marries again on 20 May 185 at Edinburgh.

So the death of Margaret BOWERS senior has to be between 1828 & 1856.

If anyone can help me with this I would appreciate it very much.
