Subject: LOOK UP OF 1871 CENSUS PLEASE
Date: Mon, 2 Aug 2004 23:51:54 +0100
Hello Listers,
Could someone please do a look up of the 1871 Census for me please. I would like to see if James Downie Journeyman Baker or Just Baker and Wife Lillias had any children?
You see My 2x great grandmother Jessie Downie their daughter was born about 1869. I have found their marriage in June 1869. But not their daughter Jessie's birth.
Although I have found a Jessie Wilson Downie born in 1869 her parents names were Thomas Downie and Mary Walker Drummond Dawson, is it possible for her parents to have died when she was young and James Downie and wife Lillias adopted her as their own? Could Thomas have been James Downie's brother? Or do you think it possible that She was James Downie and Lillias Downie's daughter but Thomas and his wife Mary Dawson just put she was their daughter?Lillias Downie's Maiden Surname was Dick and Lillias was the daughter of William Dick and Janet Wilson so could there be a connection? I know that James Downie and wife Lillias were living at 117 Pleasance Place, St, Cuthberts, Edinburgh in 1881.
Could this Jessie their boarder be My Jessie she is about the same age?
My Jessie Downie married John McGrouther in March 1887 at Vicarage: 3, St, John Street, Edinburgh, Scotland.
James Downie was Deceased by March 1887.
