The Academy in question was Edinburgh Ladies College, the Mary Erskine
School for Girls,

Mary Erskine's

1694. Mercahnt Maiden Hospital
1870. Edinburgh Educational Institution ( for Young Ladies ). 70/72 Queen
Street.
1880. Edinburgh Ladies College. 70/72 Queen Street.
1944 Mary Erskine's School for Girls. 68.69,70,72 & 73 Queen Street.
Moved to Barnton 1966.

I understand that no worthwhile records have survived for ELC. pre 1900.
(from ex ME's pupils)
