I posted a message with this heading/leader back in December regarding the
violent death of a relative Margaret Simpkins nee Moncur where a police
autopsy was involved.

Well a trip to the Edinburgh Room last week produced 3 reports as shown
below.

So, far from being a murder the violent death appears to have been a simple
road traffic accident.

STREET ACCIDENT-



Yesterday morning, Margaret Sinbon [sic] or Moncur, 68 years of age,
residing at Borthwick's Close, canongate, while crossing the Grassmarket,
was knocked to the ground by a passing cart. Her injuries were attended to
at the Dispensary.

FATAL RESULT OF AN ACCIDENT-



Mrs Moncur, the old woman who was knocked down by a horse and cart in
Grassmarket on Thursday, died early yesterday morning in her home in Cowgate
from the injuries she received.
