The only searchable source I have found is the archive of the Scotsman
http://archive.scotsman.com/. They offer a pay-for-service subscription. I
found several of my ancestors from 19th century Edinburgh in the obits.

Does anyone know if there's an on-line searchable database for Edinburgh
newspapers? In Toronto, we can search two of our newspapers and it's
wonderful for finding obits and news articles about ancestors. Anything
similar in Edinburgh?
