Hello Listers

My great grandfather, Charles Gifford Cluness, was born in Unst, Shetland
Islands, 16 April 1871. He married Julia Duncan on 13 December 1895 in
North Leith, Edinburgh. They had 10 children, Janet, Meg, Charles,
Joan/Anna, William, Patricia, Nellie, Minnie, Connie and Julia. He started
out as a merchant seaman and worked his way up to master mariner.

Family legend has it that his nickname was 'Lone Wolf of the Sea'.
Apparently if the fleet was heading out one way, he would head out a
different way. Would anyone know where I could find out if the legend is
accurate.

If anyone has information on any of the children, I would love to hear from
them.
