Patsy, that message came as a surprise. When I think how long my mum plodded
away for ages at researching, and all I did was put a message in this list.
And I ger losts of information from Donald, and also a post from you which
very possibly means common ancestory but probably back another generation or
two, I would guess. BUIST is ertainly not a common surname in my experience.

Not sure about the Dundee connection, but I do know that there is/was a
company in the City of Dundee called Don Brothers, Buist and Co. I seem to
recall my mother, while working in Dundee in the pre-war years, did come in
touch with someone else called Buist, but no direct relationship.

during my first introduction to the internet, while visiting Atlanta,
Georgia last summer, I did a search on the word BUIST and it brought back
quite a few from USA, including medical people now woriking in USA who
originated from St andrews, Fife. I must do that seartch again - I am really
interested now. The search also brought back a website of a firm called
BUIST from Netherlands. no idea how that came about.

I would be fascinated to hear any more about the Buists in Missouri, and
indeed any mention of the name BUIST that anyone on this list might come
across.

Take care,
