In the 1828 NSW census appears one Alexander KINGHORNE, widower, aged
56.
He was a superintendent of convicts and came out on the "Portland" in
1824 acompanied by:-
John Ker KINGHORNE aged 18
Helen 28
Elizabeth 19
Isabella 16
He is described as a civil engineer, protestant and had a holding of 100
acres.
He was the employer of my great-great-grandmother who was a nine-year
old house servant at the time.
Perhaps he is one of yours.
Don Stewart.
