Fergus:
Hi again.
I did some checking on the Baldie name in the St. Monance Censuses some
time ago, because I was intrigued in the changes. I noted the following
in relation to a Catherine Baldie:
1841 - 12 months e2, p20 with Robert (59) & Jenet (58) Alison & their
daughter
Margaret (25), her mother. At E2, p17, is Alexander Buddie, 26, with his
parents James (67) & Jenet (62) Buddie & his sister Christian (23). He
is a
fisherman & the rest are Ag. Labourers. He is probably her father.
1851 - 10, e2, p 27 with Alexander Buddo (35), Margaret Buddo (38),
Janet (5) &
Ann (3). He is a sailor. They are next door to Robert (68), Janet (68) &
Lucy
(28) Alison.
1861 - 18 (Baldie), e2, p5 with Margaret Baldie (47) widowed
washerwoman, Janet
16, Ann 10, Alexandrina 8. Next door to Robert (73), Janet (73) & Louisa
(38)
Allison.
1871 - 29 (Baldie) e2, p12 field worker with Mother Margaret Baldie, 62,
laundress. Next door is Louisa Alison, 41, laundress.
1881 - 40 (Buddy) e3, p22 with Mother Margaret Allison, widowed retired
laundress, and Jessie (5) and Alexander (4) Fowler Margaret's
grandchildren.
Next door is Lucy Allison, 45, laundress. (On e3, p21 is John Small
Fowler (1)
gs with Isabella S. Small (56) widow.)
1891 - 49, married, e1, p1, with Husband Lowrie Forgan & nephew
Alexander
Fowler (13).
My connection, though slight, is through Lowrie Forgan.
Bill

an unusual name. I'll post my BALDY line in another message.
