Valerie
You said " I have John Thomson married in 1818 to isobel Reid could my Isobel be
an
aunt to your Catherine?"
I take you are referring to the Catherine THOMSON born Methil about 1870 who I
found living with her aunt, Jessie McCOLL (nee THOMSON) in the 1881 census.
Jessie's parents were William THOMSON and Catherine Sime/SYME who were married at
Wemyss in 1824. They appear to have had 8 children born in Weymss - Thomas
(1825), Margaret (1828), Catherine (1830), Ann (1833), Elizabeth (1835), William
(1838), Jessie (1839), John (1843) and James (1847). These dates are taken from
the IGI and I have not verified them yet.
Your John THOMSON who married Isobel REID in 1818 could have been a brother or
cousin of the William who married in 1824.
If I find out anything else I will let you know.
