Thank you very much for the info Drew. When I visited Balmerino yesterday I wish I had taken photographs. Honestly I may be exaggerating when I said there were a dozen houses. As for the Abbey I went to have a look at the plaque - it did give some of the info that you mentioned on the first email and it said that it was £1.00 for adults and 60p for children. I had a good old laugh at this since it is just looks a plaque in field with some rubble on the left. Who was I to give the money too? lol.
Also the stat account you sent didn't come through as (hopefully) you will see from the bottom of the page.

Hi again Carrie,

Here is the Statistical account of the Parish of Balmerino from the 1791 - 99
records, which proves the Church was there at that time.
