Hi,
I may have Mastertons in my family tree as well. Unfortunately I still have to find the ellusive proving document. My ancestor was Charles Fraser married in Largs, Ayr 13th August 1775. He does not appear to be related to the Ayrshire Frasers who tend to run in groups of Alexanders, and Roberts. His second daughter was named Mary but there is a gap of a couple of years before the couple had recorded children so I think there was probably a son in there. Their first recorded son is William which is the bride's father's name which I assume means he is a second son.

I believe Charles may be the son of James Fraser and Mary Masterton christened 12th December 1748 in St. Cuthbert's, Edinburgh. I do have good cause for the speculation - their daughter Janet was christened 1st October 1754 in Maybole, Ayr. So they must have moved to Ayrshire put they leave very little paper information. Only three children are recorded, the other son is James Fraser christened 19 August 1744 in Edinburgh Parish, Edinburgh.
