Hello Victoria
There is a commercial operation run by Scots Origins in association with the
General Register Office of Scotland. It makes available on-line Births and
Marriages in Scotland up to 1901 and deaths up to 1926. It also has on line
the 1891 and 1901 Census Returns from which you can download scans of images
you want. For pre-1857 records it has only what the IGI has, but for what
you want it seems ideal. It costs me UKĀ£6 [17 NZ dollars to you] to log on
for 24 hours. For that you can download up to 30 pages of rudimentary
records. If you want to look at what they have and the charges the address
of the home page is
http://www.scotsorigins.com/
There is a page that summarises their charge structure.
Regards
David
