Just to expand on that, an umbrella group for most of the Scottish FHSs is
the Scottish Association of Family History Societies - their website at
http://www.safhs.org.uk will take you to many of the other FHS as well as
Glasgow's. If you have relatives south of the border, try the Federation of
Family History Societies at http://www.ffhs.org.uk . As Jay says, they will
be only too happy to help. You can also try the Talking Scot website at
http://www.talkingscot.com, where many people will be only too happy to
share tips and advice.
