Off Topic- I inherited a grandfather clock which reportedly was acquired by my ggrandfather around 1873. My ggrandfather (Finlay Macdonald, 31 Mar 1833 - 9 June 1905) lived on a farm near Belivat, a mile or so SE of Nairn. My gggrandfather Alexander Macdonald (25 April 1799 - 4 Oct 1862) lived in Kilmorack & Knockbain and his ancestors, in Kirkhill and Kiltarity.
If possible, I would like to date the clock and would appreciate any information that anyone could provide on the clockmaker or cabinetmaker.
On the hand painted face of the clock is the name D Ferguson - Nairn, apparently the clockmaker.
On a half moon at the top of the face is a drawing of a castle and a name - Montgomery Castle.
On the inside of the cabinet doop is a decal indicating Clerthew - Cabinermaker - Old Melderum
The clock has hour, minute and second and day of the month hands.

The family story is that the clock was a wedding present to either the Finlay Macdonald above, married to Mary Fraser on 20 June 1873 or the Alexander Fraser above, married to Catherine Fraser on 1 July 1825.
Thanks in advance,
Donald Macdonald
