Time to post my missing birth again, in the hope someone out there can help!
I am trying to find any record of the birth of JOHN CUMMING, about 1851, probably in Forres / Nairn area.
He was the son of William Cumming and Catherine Mackenzie, who were married 10 June 1848 in Forres

John was ( I believe) the second of 10 children: the first was James, born 10 April 1849 in Forres, and the last was Charles, born 30 December 1871 at Petty, Inverness.
I have details of all their births except John, the most important as he was my wife's g-grandfather.

If anyone is able to look up the 1851 and 1861 census for Petty for this family, I would be most grateful - that may give a better indication of his place and date of birth.
I know they were in Petty by 1855, when 3rd child William was born
By 1861 there should be William (head), Catherine (wife), James, John, William, Alexander, and Jemima
