To Margaret Wilson:
Do you know who Mary Ann Sinclair's parents were, and where they lived? Where
did your Sinclairs emigrate to?
To Billy Jenkins:
In the Bowmore/Killarow OPRs shows a Hugh Sinclair and Nancy Macdonald
children: Malcolm, born 1825, Bowmore. Donald Simpson, born 1830, in Bowmore
Hugh Sinclair and Ann MacDonald - children: Isabella, b. 1820. Betty, b. 1823
(This may be the same man who remarried, or his wife's name might have been a nickname).
A Hugh Sinclair married Mary McQueen in 1815. They had several children, including Euphemia, born 1860 in Canada, and a Peter born 1833 or 34, who married a Janet McQueen. (I can't confirm this, it came from a family chart
that was given to me.)
There is a Hugh Sinclair who married Catharine Sinclair in 1834.
There is a Hugh born in Bowmore, 27 Feb. 1785, son of Duncan S. and Catharine Campbell (sisters: Jean, 1787 and Mary 1795).
In 1845, Duncan S. and Marion Cameron had a son Hugh, born 1849, who
probably died because they also named their next son Hugh, born 1851.
Another Hugh born July 19, 1815, died in Canada, 1859.
"Hugh" is not a very common name in the Sinclair family, and it is quite possible that many of them will be somehow related. A common naming pattern
would be that the first son is named after his paternal grandfather.
I don't have information on the other parishes, but this should be enough to keep you going for a little while.
Re: McNokairds - When you wrote"I was looking at the North Am. Clan Campbell Society", is that a website?
Looking forward to hearing from you.
