Hi Ken,

Duncan McNabb and Grace McVoran have two children listed in the IGI
(on-line version) Kildalton parish records: Nancy McNabb christened 1 Nov
1819 and Isabel McNabb christened 24 Mar 1825. Unfortunately the male
christenings for most of Islay have been omitted from the on-line IGI but
you could probably find them in Scots Origins. There is also an Alexander
McNabb married to Effy McVorran in Kildalton. Of interest is the marriage
of Duncan McNabb and Mary McNabb, also 31 Jan 1816.

The Day Book of Daniel Campbell associates the names Morrison and McVoran
and that may be where you saw it. Most of the rentals shown for McVorans
are in the Stremnishmore lands in the Oa, which I believe was part of
Kildalton parish until 1833. If you look at Steve's map of Islay

http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~steve/islaymap.htm

you will see this area at the very bottom of the map shown as Stramnish
More. The Oa is the Stanley Parkish bit up to Kilnaughton, and Parish of
Kildalton extends up to Duich on Bay of Laggan, Torra, then winds around
Upper and Lower Killeenan in Killarrow or Bowmore Parish and then up to
Proaig which is part of Kilmeny Parish. Others may be able to define it
better but that's my estimate.

The microfilm of the Kildalton records is available at the Burnaby Family
History Centre and the lands where the family is living are indicated on
each christening record in the film.

Hope this helps,
Daryl Lacey
