Ken,

I accidently hit the "delete" button, before I properly read your
message, but I think you
inquired about Thomas Morrison. I found a reference to someone by that
name on lot
10, con. 14, Oro township, simcoe County in Hunter's History of Simcoe
Co., list of
settlers before 1837.

Is someone keeping track of the settlers who left Islay for North
Carolina, and later came north to Canada? The same book, in the chapter
on Nottawasaga, refers to : "John Macgillivray, who arrived with his
family in 1848, having lived for a short time in North Carolina. He
settled on lot 27, con.12, where he lived until his death on April 21
1892." I don't remember seeing his name with other NC folks, but most
of them came
up, I think, in 1828. It doesn't really say that he was from Islay
either, but it was a
common name. Just thought I'd throw it out, in case someone is looking
for him.

Toni
