Hi Andrew,

According to Islay People,

pg 86 listed as a tenant of a house, but does not say where!

pg 60, The founders of Port Ellen, in 1821, is listed James MacDougall
from Tighandroma-Farmer. Now spelled also listed are Allan- joiner,
Allan- cartwright in Bailneill, Alex Tighhandroma, Archibald - Carpenter
in Lagavulin, Dugald farmer in Kilbride. I think the Tighandroma is now
called Tighgaramon, a farm area outside of Port Ellen. We stayed at the
farmhouse, now a B&B.

I have a McDougall cousin. When on Islay, he was told the McDougalls
were boat builders.

Hope this helps, have you looked at the Old Parish Records at the LDS
Church or online?

Peg
