My great grandmother Mary MCLEAN was born September 04, 1835 in Island of
Islay, Scotland, and died March 25, 1898 in Mills, Sanilac Co. MI. Her
parents were Donald McLEAN and Ann McLACHLAN. The family immigrated to
Ontario, and settled in Erin Twp. where several other children were born.
Mary married Stephen ARMSTRONG April 21, 1871 in Erin Twp, Wellington Co.
Ontario, Canada (son of John ARMSTRONG and Susannah BELKNAP).
On the record of marriage for daughter Annie to my grandfather, Archie U.
KING, Mary's birthplace is given as "on the sea", and I've always been
puzzled by this. It's possible that Mary was born during the voyage to
Canada.
I have much more on the family and Mary's decendants; am searching for
parents of Donald McLean and Annie McLACHLAN.
