Subject: [SCT-ISLAY] Glasgow Islay Assoc Annual Gathering

The 138th Annual Gathering of the Glasgow Islay Association was held last
night in the Mitchell Theatre, Glasgow and we enjoyed a great evening of
Gaelic singers at our concert and thereafter a celidh dance. The concert was
attended by some 400 people and the dance by 300. It was a very special
event as the Gathering was broadcast live for the very first time to the
patients and residents at Islay Hospital and Eventide Home. Our souvenir
programme featured an article on Major General Alexander McDougall born in
Islay in 1732 who was instrumental in bringing New York into the American
Revolution. For the interest of those McDougall's and Ileachs world wide
