I have a Joseph Carmichael who I cannot connect with any of the other
Carmichael families on Islay. Of course, it is possible he was an incomer (
he was a handloom weaver), however as Joseph is a very uncommon forename on
the island, I was wondering if Joseph was interchangeable with another name
a la Sarah/Marion. Does anyone have any suggestions?
