campbeltown is about 32 miles from kennacraig, which is the ferry terminal
for islay, so if you add in the 10 miles from port ellen or port askaig to
bowmore, then the distance from bowmore to campbeltown excluding the ferry
journey is about 42 miles.

the ferry trip takes about two hours.
